Ashanti Johnson (previously Ashanti Johnson-Pyrtle) is an American geochemist and chemical oceanographer. She is the first African American to earn a doctoral degree in oceanography from Texas A&M University. Johnson received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring in 2008.
