Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A large, three-dimensional, multi color glass beaded neck piece by Joyce J. Scott. It has five figures that wrap around the neckline. From left to right, a green figure sits upright atop a purple column formed by a face. Below, a reclining green female figure stretches across the lower portion of the necklace entangled in blue, yellow, black, and light green beadwork strands. The proper right leg stretches out to the right. The two figures, on the right side of the necklace, are also wrapped with these beaded strands. A blue male figure stands towards the interior of the necklace, while a purple female figure is on the outer edge. The neck piece has a beaded hook and loop clasp. The artist used the peyote stitch to create the neckpiece.
