Digital image scanned from a 35mm black and white negative of jeweler Art Smith sitting on a wood bench, holding a cigarette in his proper right hand. Taken near the 1974 annual summer session at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Smith wears three rings (two of his own design); two on his proper right hand and the Floating Opal ring (2023.12.7) on his proper left hand. Smith wears a watch on his proper left wrist, metal rim glasses, a light long sleeved shirt rolled up, and light color pants. Facing the camera, Smith’s gaze looks off to the left. Behind his are tree trunks.
