This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.
Digital image scanned from a 35mm black and white negative of Carolyn Cummings taken near the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts during the 1974 annual summer session. Cummings, wife of artist Frank E. Cummings who was an instructor that summer, is captured from the waist up. Her body turned slightly inward; she looks directly into the camera. She wears a knitted shawl over a light color patterned sweater. Behind her is a plain, light color background, possibly the wall of a building.
