Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

Black-and-white silver gelatin photographic print of a completed pot by ceramicist Dr. Abbas M. Ahuwan. A ceramics instructor for the 1974 annual summer session at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Dr. Ahuwan’s pot sits on wood panels, likely the floor, with some sand or dirt in the lower right. The wide, circular pot has a smooth lip and a short neck with a repetitive pattern all around. The shoulder is scalloped with clay waves protruding out. The body of the pot appears to be smooth. The shadow of the pot falls to the lower left. There are no inscriptions on the front or back of the photograph.
