Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

Digital image scanned from a 35mm color negative of an unidentified camper working on a textile project at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts during the 1974 annual summer session. A piece of fabric hangs from a clothesline. The camper, standing in front of it, pulls the fabric slightly down with her proper left hand, while she holds a paint brush and paints with her proper right hand. The painting appears to be a human-figure with strokes of red-pink, yellow, and blue. The camper wears a painting smock over her blue jeans and light color long-sleeved shirt. She has her hair wrapped in a red and white scarf.
