Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A framed toner on wove paper drawing, Transmission ‘A’ #4, by Jack Whitten. The work presents a rectangle of smoky, uneven dark grey framing a central white square formed by fine grid lines of a mesh or screen. Appearing across the white square at a slight diagonal is an intricate, abstract design in black. Darker smudges and fine dots of black extend outward into the white square and surrounding grey. The work is in a white wooden frame.
