A diptych of framed charcoal on rives paper works, Unknown Lady I (a) and Unknown Lady II (b), drawn by Jack Whitten. (a) Unknown Lady I: This abstract work has areas of lighter and darker charcoal intersecting each other. The lighter shaded area appears at the bottom and rises up into a point near the center of the work where it begins to transect the darker area of charcoal descending from the top in a swirling mass. (b) Unknown Lady II: This abstract work features dark charcoal that lightens at the center where an abstracted form begins to emerge. Both works have white wooden frames.
