This is "Chunks," a pair of sterling silver cufflinks created by Art Smith; designed circa 1940s-1950s and made between 1946 and 1979. Each cufflink is made of a rectangular shaped face with one shorter side and two holes in the middle side by side. The post and toggle of the cufflink are the same part: two silver medal rods soldered together in the middle with the two ends flared out, creating an 'X' shape. From the post/toggle, the longer flared out ends go through the two holes and are kept in place by tension. Stamped on the back of cufflink 2023.67.1a is the artist’s hallmark [Art Smith] and the [STERLING] on the left side. Stamped on the back of cufflink 2023.67.1b is the artist’s hallmark [Art Smith] and the [STERLING] on the right side.
