Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

This is the "Double Loop" ring designed and created by jeweler Art Smith. The ring is made of a single thick, round sterling silver wire. The wire has been flattened and twisted into two loops, creating two bands with one inside the other. There are two differently shaped gemstones placed at top center of the tallest band: a green cabochon of nephrite in a marquise shape and an orange-red cabochon of cornelian in an oval shape. Both gems are set in a silver bezel. The ring has one hallmark on the inside of the base, Smith’s signature [Art Smith].
