Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

These are three Blazer Buttons designed, created, and worn by Art Smith. Each circular button is made of a brass top section and copper back section. The front of each button is nearly identical, slightly raised with two oval-shaped cervices on the sides, giving a ‘pinched’ look to the buttons with the black patinated back section. They are shank buttons with a small loop on the back of the button to sew onto a garment. The back of the buttons each vary in discoloration and corrosion.
