A pair of bowtie-shaped earrings designed by Art Smith. Each dangle earring features four fan-shaped quarter round copper sheet pieces, two large and two small. Each set of fan pieces join at the center to create a bowtie shape, supported by a copper rod soldered to the back. The smaller bowtie has an earring back soldered to the top of one quarter round piece and a small hole in the bottom corner of the opposite piece. The rod on the back of the larger bowtie shape is bent into a ring which attaches via this hole. Each bowtie drops in a diagonal pattern creating the illusion of stacked circles with missing quadrants. The front of each quarter round piece has a thick bright copper edge and a dark patinated wedge at the center. The backs of earrings are covered in a black patina.
