A black-and-white photograph of Kamoinge Workshop member, Beuford Smith, captured by Anthony Barboza. The close-up portrait of Smith depicts from the neck up. He is directly facing the viewer, wearing a dark tone jacket over a white dress shirt, a denim newsboy cap, and thick, plastic, aviator-style glasses. He has a trimmed, chevron-style mustache. The proper left side of Francis’ face and neck is in shadow. Beneath the image in the bottom left corner is the title, year, and edition number handwritten in black ink: [Beuford Smith 1972 1/5]. In the bottom right corner is photographer’s signature in black ink: [A. Barboza]. The verso of the photograph has a handwritten inscription and photographer’s signature written in black ink just above the center reads [Kamoinge 1972 / 1st set of 5 / printed on Hahnemuhle / Feb 2018 / Anthony Barboza].
