A sketch in black ink of Philadelphia City Hall drawn on Walker Evans & Cogswell notepaper by architect Julian Abele Cook, Sr. This highly detailed drawing by Julian Abele Cook, Sr. depicts the face of Philadelphia City Hall clock tower. Cook’s drawing captures a semi-profile view of the tower, on a light brown woven piece of note paper by Charleston, South Carolina’s Walker Evans & Cogswell Company. In black type this company paper has mottos printed at the top and bottom which read, “REMEMBER US / When in need of supplies in our line” and “DON’T SAY IT. WRITE IT”, respectively. At bottom right is a black ink inscription reading [City Hall / Philadelphia]. There are no markings on the reverse of the drawing.
