Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A digital, black-and-white image of Kendrick Sampson speaking at a Black Lives Matter - Los Angeles protest against District Attorney Jackie Lacey in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The image was taken by Tommy Oliver during the protests that followed the death of George Floyd. Sampson, centered, is shown from the chest up and turned slightly towards the left edge of the image. He is speaking into a microphone in his proper right hand. His proper left hand is raised above his head and he is pointing with his index finger. He is wearing a black, sleeveless T-shirt with centered, partially visible, white text over the chest that reads [BLD]. He also has a black face mask with white piping around the edges pulled down and resting on the top of his collarbone. Behind Sampson is another protester with their arm raised and holding up a flier depicting a photograph of a man’s face.
