A silkscreen print tribute to Dr. David Kearney McDonogh, the first Black graduate of Lafayette College and the first Black otolaryngologist, or ear, nose and throat specialist in New York, by Curlee Raven Holton. Several printmaking techniques including serigraph, relief printing and á la poupée or hand stamping, are used to produce images of individuals, statues, and objects superimposed on top of reproductions of historic government documents. At top left is the Declaration of Independence in light brown and at top right is the Voting Rights Act of 1965 in light blue. Imagery includes shackles in grey, Thomas Jefferson, and a man and child at center. At bottom left is a group portrait and at bottom right is a portrait of Abraham Lincoln in the negative and a large black and white portrait of Dr. McDonogh, both laid over a handwritten document.
