Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A black dress with a red heart designed by Patrick Kelly for his Fall/Winter 1988 collection "More Love." The dress is made of wool and synthetic blend knit and is fitted through the hips. The dress has a two-and-a-half-inch wide self-faced band collar and long fitted sleeves. Red synthetic yarn grouped in strands of two is sewn throughout the center front of the dress in the shape of a heart. Various ends of the yarn are placed throughout the heart shape. Some of the ends are tied in a knot. The yarn on the bottom point of the heart continues down the length of the dress, ending slightly below the hem of the dress at the center front. An eighteen-inch zipper with a metal pull and plastic teeth is sewn along the center back seam.
