Time vol. 91 no. 21 from May 24, 1968. The front cover features a color cartoon portrait of Senator Robert Kennedy, set against a red background. Time magazine commissioned Roy Lichtenstein to produce the print for this issue. Kennedy is depicted from the shoulders up, speaking in front of five (5) microphones. Behind him is a red-white-and-blue background and Kennedy is outlined by a bright yellow burst of light that also falls on one side of his face. The portrait is bordered with a narrow white frame. In the bottom right corner of the portrait is the associated cover line printed in black text that reads, [BOBBY / KENNEDY]. Just below, printed in the white frame, is the artist’s name printed in black, stylized, block text that reads [ROY LICHTENSTEIN]. The masthead, printed in blue text, which is partially obscured by the top of Kennedy’s head, reads [TIME].
