Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

Two anchor posts and two hinge clamps for 2008.11.1ab, the Philip Simmons metalwork gate. One of the posts (.2a) has an open top and the other post (.2b) has a closed dome top. Each post has a small, flat, horizontal platform near the bottom, visibly just above the burial line. Near the top of each post is a smaller horizontal flat piece of iron with a rounded end and a circular hole. These protrustions are likely the attachment points for the gate hinges. There are also two iron hinge clamps (.2cd) that are U-shaped with a circular opening at each end.
