Source catalog description
This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.
A pair of openwork straw pumps with navy leather trim. The main body of the shoe is composed of two panels of openwork straw that have most likely been treated with a chemical for longevity. Navy leather binding is sewn along the topline, the center back heel, and the lower part of the toe box. A tan synthetic Petersham ribbon lines the inner topline and there’s a tan vinyl insole (most likely) glued into place. The proper right shoe reads [WARBLER / LAST / TROYLINGS / STYLED BY / SEYMOUR TROY] in gold text along the tan vinyl insole and the proper left shoe reads [CREATED BY / CASPER’S / SALISBURY, N.C.] in gold text at the vinyl insole. There is tan suede at the interior counter and tan vinyl also lines the interior latter half of the shoe.
