Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A black net and silver sequin dress designed by Peter Davy. The dress has a fitted bodice through the natural waist and hips with one shoulder at the proper right side and a dropped waistline. The front bodice has a sweetheart neckline and a straight diagonal back that reaches upward on the proper right side to form the single strap. The waistline is cut on the diagonal extending downward from proper left to proper right. The bodice is made from black synthetic stretch knit fabric overlaid in black net lace, which is decorated all over in silver sequins sewn in a lattice pattern. A double layer of black net fabric in a ruffled rosette is sewn at the proper right shoulder, with both layers of net trimmed in a row of silver sequins.
