An orange straw hat with a raffia hatband. The body of the hat is made of one piece of woven straw. The top of the crown is rounded and circular. The hat band is made of orange petersham rayon ribbon wrapped around cream colored raffia. This is tied in a knot at the back of the hat with the edges of the raffia and ribbon falling onto the brim. The brim of the hat is wide and slopes slightly downwards. The inside of the hat is unlined. There is a label on the inside of the hat at the center back that reads [Betmar], along with a union label underneath. This project received Federal support from the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative Pool, administered by the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum.
