This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A pair of silver metallic leather pumps with pointed toe boxes. The shoes were likely painted silver as the original rust color of the leather is visible in various areas. The back half of the shoes are lined with tan suede. A strip of tan vinyl lines the opening of the shoes. The insoles are made of tan vinyl and are adhered in place. The text [stratford / REG. U.S. PAT. OFF.] is stamped in metallic gold ink on the insole of the right shoe (b). The text [HAHN / WASHINGTON – BALTIMORE] is stamped in metallic gold ink on the insole of the left shoe (a). [7B 96591 / 5 4509] is printed along the interior heel area of both shoes. On each outsole, [X] is written in black marker over top [2.50] which is written in red marker. The heel caps are made of black rubber.
