Source catalog description

This description refers to material held by Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. Visual details below describe the original material.

A pair of black and white wingtip pumps with pointed toes and faux wood heels. The shoes are white and have decorative panels of black faux lizard leather with perforated edges. These are adhered to the white leather exterior at the vamp and counter to create a wingtip design. Machine sewn vertical seams are at the counter and right and left sides of the shoe. The heel is likely made of molded plastic or rubber that has been airbrushed with black and brown pigment to mimic a dark wood grain pattern. Piping made of white plain woven fabric is sewn along the topline. The back half of the shoe lining and the insoles are made of brown suede. The front half of the shoes are unlined. The outsole is made of brown leather. The text [cuscino / by life stride] is stamped in metallic gold ink on the insoles of both shoes.
