Translated postcard caption reads, "75. - DAKAR - Boarding of the 4th Senegalese to Morocco, April 9, 1908." Additional handwritten text on verso reads, "Alphonse Morère, Bataillon d'Infanterie, Colonnade de l'A.O.F., 3ie Compagnie à Dakar, Sénégal. Dakar le 19 Juillet 1909. Cher Ami, C'est avec grand plaisir que j'ai recu ta lettre du 27 Juin et, certes j'ai été charmé des belles paroles que tu m'as écrites, me rappelant hélas! de si joyeux souvenirs. Tu me dis de t'écrire longuement, mais pour le moment, cher ami, je ne puis le faire étant très occupé. Mais j'espère trouver bientot une bonne journée, que je consacrerai spécialement à toi afin que je puisse te raconter mes principales aventures. Je suis pour le moment en bonne santé et le désire de même. Adieu, cher ami, je t'envoie une cordiale poignée de main. Alphonse. ne te fais pas de bile." Translated handwritten text on verso reads, "Dakar, July 19, 1909. dear friend, It's with great pleasure that I received your letter of the 27th of June, and certainly I was charmed by the beautiful words you wrote reminding me -alas!- of such joyful memories. You tell me to write at length but for the moment, dear friend, I cannot do so as I am very busy. But I hope to find soon a good long day, which I will devote especially to you so that I can tell you my main adventures. For the time being I am in good health and wish you the same. Adieu dear friend, I send you a cordial handshake. Don't fret.".
